MSRC congratulates our colleagues
at Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) on receiving a Seatrade
Award on May 17, 2004 for their Nimbus Aerial Dispersant
System. The Award was presented to OSRL by His Royal Highness,
the Duke of York at a ceremony held in the City of London
at the Guildhall.
The Nimbus Aerial Dispersant System is a modular aerial
dispersant application system designed for rapid deployment
to an oil spill using jet aircraft. With the use of the Nimbus
system OSRL is able to transport this smaller size package
in jet freight aircraft. Such flexibility allows for response
in remote locations more quickly than the use of the Hercules
aircraft.
The OSRL team (L-R Mr. Richard
Tatner, Mr. Rob James and Mr. Archie Smith) together
with Mr. Bill Fernie (second from
left) who designed the Nimbus system. |

The unit consists of five components. Four of the components
are tank units, which are capable of holding dispersant chemicals.
The last component is a pump pallet unit that carries the
dispersant pumps, spray arms and control mechanisms. This
design is scaleable and can be modified to suit any aircraft
with limited additional designs.
Again, our congratulations to OSRL!
