Types of Storage
-
Oil Spill Response Barges (OSRB)
Nearly all MSRC OSRBs are rated for the Oceans environment and may be used for storage of recovered oil or skimming operations. They range in size from 11,000 bbls to 68,000 bbls.
-
Aluminum Storage Barges
A small barge used for recovered oil storage that is either moored in the water or transported on trailers and deployed into the water by a crane and typically used in protected waters. These barges are pushed or towed by small workboats and support on water and near-shore skimming operations. They may also be anchored for use as deck storage.
-
Mini-Barge
This is a small barge transported on trailers and launched into waterways for use in protected waters. This barge is maneuvered by workboats to support on-water and shoreline skimming operations and the temporary storage of recovered products. It may also be anchored for use as storage of recovered oily solids, spill supplies and other support items. They range in size from 100 bbl to 110 bbl.

Towable Storage Barges
Towable Storage Barges are small barges transported on semi trailers and craned into waterways for use in protected waters. These barges can be pushed or towed by small workboats and support on water and shoreline skimming operations for storage of recovered oil and water mixtures. They may also be anchored for use as deck storage for recovered oily solids, for storage of spill supplies and other support items.
